I'm unable to send email, what can I do? Print

We have secure email servers but as part of that you may need to make some minor adjustments to how you may be used to setting up your email.

In this example we will use our own domain for this example of dshost.com.au and the email address of example@dshost.com.au.

Firstly how do we know what your settings are?

Please replace "mail.dshost.com.au" with your own domain name.

POP3 Mail Settings

Server: mail.dshost.com.au
Port: 110
Authentication: Yes
Details: Plain text.
Username: example@dshost.com.au
Password: ******

SMTP Mail Settings

Server: mail.dshost.com.au
Port: 25
Alternative Port: 587
Authentication: Yes
Details:

Check box to use same username/password for checking mail.
This sometimes appears in a section called Advanced Options or Settings.

Username: example@dshost.com.au
Password: ******

We use username and password for sending mail so that our servers cannot be used for fraud/hacking/spam.

This also allows the servers to ignore the spam rules when you are sending mail.

Other factors that could stop your email from functioning properly:

  • Firewall rules
  • Antivirus Software
  • Wrong password
  • Wrong username
  • 5 wrong password attempts
  • Checking mail more than 5 times in 1 minute.

Please contact support if you continue to have problems.
